Not your traditional beef stew...

3 tbsp. cooking oil
2 lbs. stewing beef
1 medium onion
1 tsp. chili powder
1 and 1/2 tsp. seasoning salt
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. flour
small can tomato paste
1 cup water
28 oz. can tomatoes (whole, stewed or diced)
1 tbsp. Italian seasoning
3 carrots
3 celery stalks, cut in 1" pieces
2 and 1/4 cups elbow macaroni

Heat the oil in a frypan, brown the beef. Transfer to a large pot. Chop onion, brown in frypan, transfer to pot with the beef. Measure chili powder, salts and flour in medium sized bowl. Stir well. Add tomato paste, water, tomatoes and Italian seasoning. Mix together. Add to meat, bring to a boil. Simmer, covered, for one hour and 20 minutes. Add carrots and celery. Simmer, covered, until veggies and meat are tender. Cook macaroni as directed on package, drain and add to meat mixture. Serves 8.
