Flemish stew


The Flemish stew is a classic Belgian gastronomy. They are called "Flemish" in Wallonia than in Flanders while we speak simply of stew!


INGREDIENTS (for 4 people)


1kg of beef stew
2 onions
2 cloves of garlic
50 cl of gueuze (or other)
1 tablespoon brown sugar (brown sugar)
Salt and pepper
1 bay leaf, 1 sprig of thyme
some mustard
4 carrots
butter
PREPARATION:


In a saucepan, sauté in butter pieces stew, onions, carrots, peeled and cut into slices.
Salt and pepper.
Add the thyme and bay leaf, brown sugar, mustard and garlic.
Mix everything until browning.
Reduce heat cooking, and cover with beer.
Cover the pan and simmer long (+ / - 1h15)
And accompanied by a good beer.
