Prune scores?

I am using the option "record every score"
As of now I didn't set the option to "auto prune" scores.

Are there any negatives to have those settings or is there a real advantage to "prune" scores on a daily basis?
I assume "prune" scores means only the best scores for each game from each users are saved then and the lower scores deleted?

We use :
Only save users top score..

We pruned everything in the arcade a month or so ago..We only did that because of the gamedata folder missing files..
It had been 4 or 5 years without any pruning..

Using prune,,deletes all Actual Highscore Champions..
Only thing left will be the Best Score of all Time..
